Eligibility To become a participant for the next Competition Cycle (starting March of 2024) you must meet all criteria as shown below:
For Miss America: age 18-28 - must be 18 by state competition and no older than 27 at state competition
For Miss America’s Teen: age 14-17 - must be 14 by state competition and no older than 17 at state competition
18 year olds can decide whether to be eligible for Miss or Teen
Be a United States citizen
Be a female
Meet residency requirements for competing in your city or state
Raise $30 for the American Heart Association through Spotfund

Phases of Competition
Private Interview (30%) Wardrobe:Delegates Choice - Fashionable Interview Attire (age appropriate) Timing:30 second opening, 9 minute Q&A, optional 30 second wrap up or closing statement. Judges will use delegate's Fact Sheet and Community Service Initiative Statement.
Health & Fitness (20%) Wardrobe: Delegate's Choice of Rebel X Miss America Collab Red Collection fitness outfit. Timing:High energy stage routine with movement and posing no longer than 20-30 seconds. Purpose:This phase of the competition is where the delegate showcases her commitment to health and fitness initiatives, which is a key to success in all other areas of life.

Performing Arts Talent/HERStory (20%) Timing:Up to 90 seconds Purpose: To underscore the Miss America and Miss America's Teen commitment to supporting performance arts education initiatives and women's individual efforts in dance, music, opera/vocal, drama, magic, oratory and circus arts.
Evening Gown (20%) Wardrobe:Delegate’s Choice of Evening Wear Purpose: Delegate will publicly present her sense of Style wearing an evening gown in a fashion suitable for an appearance as Teen/Miss Local/Miss State. Part of a titleholder’s role is to attend galas, fundraisers, awards shows, and other formal events. This often involves walking a red carpet, posting for the press photographers, modeling in fashion shows, promoting various national fashion designers who partner with Miss America or Miss America’s Teen programs.
On-Stage Conversation (10%) Wardrobe:Delegate’s Choice of Evening Wear Purpose: The Final Conversation will include five pillars of the brand (style, service, scholarship, success, sisterhood) and may include a “warm up” question. The delegate will have between 20 to 60 seconds to answer a ‘warm up’ question. Thereafter, the delegate will answer an additional question.

Step Two: Register with Miss America and pay $39.99 Step Three: Register for each individual local in which you choose to compete by contacting the Local Director.
